Many reports have shown that wrinkles are the sign of ageing that bother women the most. Spending on anti-ageing products is expected to reach $291.9 billion by 2015, according to a Global Industry Analysts report.
We have a number of treatments in all of our salons to reduce the signs of ageing, but we’d like to share with you some top tips of things you can do yourself:
Protect your Skin
No matter your age, you need to protect your skin from the sun. Not only can sun exposure lead to skin cancer, it will also cause dryness, sun spots, wrinkles and other visible signs of ageing. Always use a moisturizer, sunscreen and cosmetics that contain SPF 15 or higher.
Most cases of bad skin come from the things we eat, so pay close attention to what you are putting into your body. Avoid too much alcohol or fatty, processed foods.
If you want skin to look younger and more supple, drinking enough water is a must. Drinking 8 glasses of water per day will flush out skin-sapping toxins and give you a natural glow.
Eat food rich in lutein which helps protect the skin from the inside out. Good sources of lutein are egg yolks & leafy dark green vegetables. Also aim to eat foods that are high in antioxidants like berries, broccoli, leafy greens (kale, spinach) and tomatoes.
Vitamin E is another must for skin health. Add vegetable oils, wheat germ, nuts, seeds & olives to your diet for healthy, glowing skin.
What to shop for
Look for skincare products with effective anti-ageing ingredients such as vitamins A, C and E, retinol, peptides, alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) and glycolic acid. Most major skincare brands offer products with these anti-ageing ingredients, and these products will help reduce the appearance of fine line and wrinkles, as well as help slow the ageing process.
It sounds obvious but make sure you clean your face, then use toner, then moisturise to make the most of skincare products. Exfoliate your face but don’t go overboard; once or twice a week is plenty for luminous skin. Spend time finding the right skincare products for your skin. We will be happy to help with any questions in all 4 of our salons.
Get your Beauty Sleep!
Beauty Sleep is real so make sure you get enough of it, as new skin cells grow over night and replace older ones. Research suggests we should be aiming for 7-8 hours sleep per night. We recommend moisturising morning and evening. While you sleep, your skin renews itself, so give your cells a helping hand at night time!
For March 2019 only we are running a great deal on our CACI facials. If you have any questions or would like to find out more please give any of our salons a call and we can arrange a consultation.
